Work History
Winslow’s Tavern – Greenville, NC October 2013 – Present
DJ Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night I set up my equipment and play music at Winslow's Bar in downtown Greenville. It is an upscale bar with a very diverse clientele, so reading the crowd and being able to make quick decisions on the fly are very important. While I am working I take requests so I am dealing with customers and being sure they are satisfied no matter what. I typically work from about 9:30pm-2am. I have used many of the skills I have learned at Winslow's and applied them to my small business. It has also proved to be a great place to meet prospective clients so I have learned to network while working. St. Peter’s School – Greenville, NC March 2015 – Present Assistant PE Teacher/Assistant Athletic Director Filling in for the normal PE teacher/Athletic Director while she is on maternity leave has been a great experience. I already had a good relationship with many of the students before accepting the position because of various ways that I help out at the school, so the transition was smooth and easy. I help the other PE teacher schedule games for ten different teams, follow-up to be sure both schools are on the same page, help setup the various fields, work the clock at games and instruct classes ranging from 1st grade to 8th grade. I have learned the importance of responsibility because if I mess up, a whole team of athletes and their parents will show up at the wrong field or at the wrong time. I have also learned how to work with kids and command their respect while still being someone they look up to and have fun with. S & S Inventory June 2013 - August 2013 Assistant Auditor One of the assistant coaches at St. Peter's and my job was to go into various Wilco/Hess stations in the Carolinas and calculate the entire inventory. He has been doing it for years and just wanted a little summer help. We worked strange, long hours and would start anywhere from 4am-6am. I even worked a 13 hour shift starting at 5 in the morning on my birthday. It was imperative to stay focused because pushing a single button wrong on the calculator could result in having to re-calculate the entire store or even managers being fired because of suspicions of foul play. I learned the importance of shutting out distractions, avoiding mental fatigue and time management even while off of work since my job and other people's jobs depended on me being mentally sharp and well-rested. |
