DJ Joe-Joe's Entertainment Services
Owner October 2013 – Present
My father has worked at St. Peter's School for twenty-five years. Right before the school's Halloween dance in October of 2013, the DJ they had hired cancelled. My father knew I had always been interested in music and that I had speakers so he asked if I could fill in last minute. I knew I didn't have the necessary equipment and would have to spend about $400 to be able to do a job I was getting paid $150 for. I had to make an important decision with long term consequences. Ultimately I decided to buy the equipment and get into the DJ-ing business. The owner of Winslow's picked up his son from the dance and offered me a job that night, and I have been DJ Joe-Joe ever since. About a year and half later, I have expanded to do weddings, proms, school dances, charity events, sorority and fraternity event and, pep rallies. I make great money doing something I genuinely enjoy. This whole experience has taught me about marketing, negotiations, building a brand, dealing with people, spending money to make money, professionalism, money management and representing a company. Accepting the DJ-ing job in October of 2013 was one of the best decisions I ever made. |
